Terms of Service

You must be at least 18 years old to use Socialize. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that the information you provide is accurate. Accounts found to belong to minors will be removed.

You must provide a valid email address to register. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. You may not share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of someone else.

You are responsible for the content of your profile, including your photo, bio, and other information. Profiles must not contain false or misleading information, impersonate another person, or include prohibited content. A "verified" badge on a profile in this build indicates a flag set by review, not a live selfie-capture verification flow -- that flow isn't built yet.

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users
• Post or share illegal, harmful, or explicit content
• Share content that sexualizes minors or constitutes non-consensual intimate imagery
• Use the platform for commercial solicitation without authorization
• Scrape, harvest, or collect data from the platform programmatically
• Attempt to circumvent location privacy or rate limits
• Share another user's private information without consent
• Use the platform for any illegal purpose

You retain ownership of content you post (photos, messages, broadcasts). By posting, you grant Socialize a license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content within the platform to other users who have access to it. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the rights to share any content you post.

We provide reporting tools so members can flag inappropriate content or behavior -- a profile reported by three or more different people is automatically hidden pending review. Our moderation team reviews flagged and reported content and may remove it, hide profiles, or ban accounts that violate these Terms, and will refer matters to the appropriate authorities as required by law. Automated AI scanning of uploaded media isn't built in this version yet.

This build includes the real code paths for two paid features -- boosting an event to the top of the feed, and selling tickets to an event -- but neither can actually be purchased yet, since no live payment processor is configured. There is no subscription tier ("Community Plus" or otherwise) in this build. When payments are enabled, this section will be updated with real pricing and terms before anything becomes purchasable.

Socialize includes several safety features in this build: location coordinate fuzzing (k-anonymity), server-side validation on every write, and a reporting system. These features are designed to enhance safety but do not guarantee it. You are responsible for your own safety when meeting people in person. Always meet in public places and exercise caution.

Socialize is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We do not guarantee the accuracy of user-provided information or the identity of other users, even verified ones. A verification badge indicates a flag set by review, not government ID verification.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Socialize shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the platform.

You can permanently delete your own account at any time from Settings -> Privacy. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if we believe your activity poses a risk to the community.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will note significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
